2. The Highway Butcher

book two of the Bo Austen series

Bo Austen doesn’t quite see himself as a forensic analyst these days — or a living person, for that matter — but he can still be lured onto a case with two unidentified victims and an incredibly short cooldown period between the two. Though Bo doesn’t believe he’s capable of solving a case any longer, he’ll still give it one more shot. For the victims.

When he’s approached by a man whose mother was killed with the same type of weapon almost two decades ago, he can’t help but be intrigued. He’s warned the man not to expect a complete resolution of a long-since cold case, certainly not at Bo’s hands, but he promises to give the case a chance. After all, the dead victim deserves justice, and the living one deserves closure.

And who’s to say the woman cleaved to death almost twenty years ago isn’t related to the two brutally hacked to death with a cleaver now?
